How To Style Scarves

I've finally started listing some items in my vintage shop Tender Buttons! I wanted to do a post with suggestions on how to style scarves. I have some of my mom's old ones, like the first one pictured below, and while I always thought they were beautiful I had no real idea what to do with them until recently. Now that I'm selling scarves, I thought others might need some help figuring out what to do with them too! I'm pretty lazy when it comes to my hair so when I feel like dressing it up one of the things I'll do is throw a scarf in it. My go-to is simply to put it up in a messy bun and tie a scarf around the base as pictured below - depending on the scarf and my mood I may simply knot it or make a bow.

Another option is to decorate your handbag or purse, and then if you you are chilly or need to put your hair up later you have the goods right there!

(Some of the items pictured may be available in the Tender Buttons shop if you're interested)

There are so many different options though - here are some great pictorial how-to's from two lovely ladies:

This link from A Beautiful Mess includes a cute and somewhat hilarious vintage chart with all sorts of scarf styling suggestions. They have another great styling post here showing multiple different styles.

Beca of Tumbleweeds did two posts on how she used to style her hair with a scarf when she was a pastry chef, though the styles are cute for anytime wear! Find those here and here.

Hope this was helpful! Do you have another scarf-styling tip? Share it in the comments below!

Ohhh, I love the scarves in your hair! I'd probably do the same thing if I had enough hair. ;o) Those scarves are so pretty!
